§ 42-37. Speed limits established for roads in certain subdivisions.

  • (a)

    The county council hereby establishes 25 miles per hour as the proper maximum speed for the following roads in the following subdivisions. Twenty-five miles per hour is the reasonable and safe maximum limit at which vehicular traffic shall be operated thereon:

    (1)

    Within Briarwood Subdivision; Albany Row and Briarwood Avenue.

    (2)

    Within Quail Arbor V; Sweetbriar Road.

    (3)

    Within Greenhurst Subdivision; Braly Drive, Greenhurst Avenue, Brailsford Boulevard, Blackwell Avenue, and Judith Drive.

    (b)

    Any person violating the speed limits herein established shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined or imprisoned as follows:

    (1)

    In excess of the maximum speed limit set forth in subsection (a) of this section but not in excess of ten miles per hour by a fine of not more than $50.00 or imprisonment for not more than ten days;

    (2)

    In excess of ten miles per hour but less than 25 miles per hour above the maximum speed limit by a fine of not less than $50.00 but not more than $100.00 or imprisonment for not more than 20 days; and

    (3)

    In excess of 25 miles per hour above the maximum speed limit by a fine of not less than $100.00 nor more than $200.00 or imprisonment for not more than 30 days.
